On Monday, March 22, 2021 at 6:30PM, the Holmes Run Acres Historic Overlay District (HOD) Community Meeting was held virtually via WebEx. Nicole Brannan, Fairfax County Heritage Staff in charge of this project, reports that around 40 folks attended at the time of the WebEx meeting (plus Fairfax County staff. Supervisor Palchik also attended briefly), and 59 viewings have happened since the video was posted. The video is available online: search HRA HOD Community Meeting on fairfaxcounty.gov website.
At this time, Nicole is still preparing the Question and Answers from the Community Meeting, and we will post them here when she forwards them to us. Learn more about the HOD here: https://www.holmesrunacres.com/historic-overlay-district-hod.html LURIA PARK STREAM CLEANUP

Saturday, April 3, 10 am - 12 pm Hi there. What a crazy weather week! Hopefully the sun is out to stay and everyone is ready to have a little fun tomorrow morning. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their yard and/or to help with egg hiding, we really appreciate it! As a reminder, here are the details for tomorrow's egg hunt. Eggs will be hidden throughout the neighborhood and in and around Luria Park in order to spread people out and keep safe distancing. Inside each egg is a 'ticket' which can be redeemed for prizes at 7805 Holmes Run Drive. There will be plenty of eggcellent photo opps there, too, to brighten the day even more. Below is a map that highlights some of the areas where you can be sure to find eggs, but keep an eye out everywhere along the way! Please be mindful and not walk on or through people's yards - eggs will be hidden close to the street. There will also be chalk markings all around to make sure your little bunnies don't miss out! The hunting will start at 10 am and you can visit 'headquarters' to snag prizes and feel festive until 12 pm. You’re invited to the Holmes Run Acres HOD Community Meeting:

Every household in HRA should have received a hard copy of this flyer in the mail: HOD Community Meeting Flyer For more information about the HRA HOD can be found here: https://www.holmesrunacres.com/historic-overlay-district.html In February and March 2021, Fairfax County is conducting public outreach and seeking input from county residents and stakeholders on issues pertaining to the development of a Community-wide Energy and Climate Action Plan, or CECAP.
To capture public feedback on issues of particular importance, three different, short public surveys have been developed. The first relates to energy issues and topics, the second is dedicated to transportation, development, and waste-related issues, and the third includes open-ended questions to invite free-form feedback on the climate planning process in general. In Fairfax County, energy use and transportation are the two greatest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. The CECAP will address both issue areas, and with your input, we can ensure that the final plan reflects the needs of everyone in our community as we work to reduce our collective carbon footprint. Take the energy survey Take the transportation survey Take the general survey **All of the surveys will close at 11:59 PM on Sunday, March 14.** Once you have completed the climate planning public surveys, we encourage you to also take a survey to help inform the countywide strategic plan. You can find the survey here. The Virtual Providence Community Budget Town Hall

Should you like to attend, the link to the virtual meeting can be found on the HRACA Board Meetings and Documents page for members only. If you need to register for an account you can do so here. HRACA 2020-2021 Budget The proposed 2020-2021 budget for the HRACA can be also be found on the HRACA Board Meetings and Documents page. This proposed budget was approved at the August 2020 Board meeting. The effects of COVID-19 impacted the spending of the HRACA, especially when it came to planned social activities, both for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 budgets. Please take this into consideration when looking at the budget. HRA 70th Anniversary October 2021 marks the 70th Anniversary of HRA. A planning committee is being formed to begin working on ways we can celebrate this milestone as a community. If you are interested in helping, we welcome any and all assistance! The more volunteers the more we can do to celebrate. If you would like to help out, please let me know. Fairfax County - Community-Wide Energy and Climate Action Plan (CECAP) NOTE: The following text is directly from Fairfax County. Fairfax County is in the midst of developing its first-ever Community-wide Energy and Climate Action Plan, or CECAP, and today, we would like to share some information with you about local climate action. Climate change occurs when greenhouse gases build up in our atmosphere and trap heat that might otherwise escape, causing shifts in global temperatures and weather patterns over time. The cars and trucks on our roads are one of the top two sources of greenhouse gases in Fairfax County. In fiscal year 2020, Fairfax County residents owned and operated 933,452 vehicles. In a single year, that many vehicles consume more than 10.6 million barrels of oil. It would take 76 million trees ten years to counteract the carbon produced by these vehicles. It would be impractical to plant 76 million trees in Fairfax County, but we can take action otherwise. Addressing our greenhouse gas emissions now is a wise investment in our future – this problem will not go away on its own and we will end up paying for it one way or another. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. The Fairfax County CECAP is unique in that it is being developed by the community, for the community, with input from dozens of organizational, business, and civic leaders, as well as individual residents. The CECAP will outline greenhouse gas reduction goals for the community and will include recommended strategies and actions community members can take on a voluntary basis to help achieve the goals. We encourage you to learn more about climate action in Fairfax County. Later this month, online surveys will be available, and the county will host public meetings to gather community input on climate change mitigation strategies and actions. We have added a new page to the site about the Fairfax County Zoning Ordinance Modernization Project (zMOD):
