HRA CIVIC ASSOCIATION
The Holmes Run Acres Civic Association is open to all residents of the neighborhood. HRACA organizes community events, keeps members in the loop about news affecting the neighborhood, and advocates for the community's interests. The association also publishes an annual directory and the wonderful Holmes Runner magazine. Elections to the HRACA Board of Directors are held each Spring.

STANDING COMMITTEES
Civic Affairs - Dan Gibson (Chair), Keith Gardiner, David Hechtman, Clinton Markwell, Doug Oelberg
- Responsible for representing the Civic Association in the Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations, for keeping the members informed of developments of interest to the community in county and state government, and for presenting the needs and wishes of the community to governmental agencies. Organize ad hoc committees as needed for current issues in this category. Current ad hoc committees include Traffic Calming Task Force and the INOVA Development of Schar Institute committee.
- Responsible for ascertaining the need for, and of, community facilities such as roadways, street signs, parks, picnic areas, basketball court, children's playgrounds, and common pathways and shall conduct necessary preliminary surveys associated with same and provide community input on the management-supervision of any such facilities. The committee shall consult with and cooperate with the appropriate government agencies such as VDOT and the Fairfax Park Authority. The Committee shall have the responsibility for planning and supervising such community projects as park and road clean-ups and other such projects for improving the community.
- Responsible for efforts to maintain the historic aspect of the neighborhood, such as designing new signs, maintaining the Architectural Guidelines document, assisting the historian in updating archives, and other projects as they occur. Past example of work includes the extensive research and documentation that was done for obtaining the historic designation in the National Registry of Historic Places, including designing the plaques after designation obtained
- Responsible for the membership drive to solicit residents to join the Civic Association, welcomes new residents to the community and acquaints them with the community. Works with the Area Leads and Block Hosts to facilitate the delivery of new neighbor packets, the Directory, Runner, and other Board publications and flyer.
- Responsible for planning and coordinating social events for adults and youth in the community
AD HOC COMMITTES
Emergency Preparedness - Kelly Schnapp (Chair)
- Responsible for notifying neighbors of potential emergencies and informing them on how to be prepared for an emergency. CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is now an integral part of the committee and will be available for identified emergencies affecting the neighborhood.
- Responsible for activities related to traffic calming initiatives, including working with the related government agencies for traffic studies, securing agreement from the neighborhood for traffic calming measures, and for ensuring the implementation of approved traffic calming devices (including signs, additional traffic violation fines, and physical traffic calming installations)
- Seeks to preserve the unique built and natural character of HRA through various means including connecting Mid-Century Modern sellers with Mid-Century Modern buyers, intervening when possible to stay tear-downs and currently through the pursuit of a Historic Overlay District for HRA.

Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations - David Hechtman
- Group of Fairfax County's Homeowner, Civic, and Community organizations that work together on issues that impact all Fairfax County residents.
- The Mason District Council is a nonpartisan civic organization that provides a forum for associations to express their views on major issues of common concern.
APPOINTMENTS
HRACA Directory - Editor: Haleh Peterson/Ads: Tom Schultz
- Responsible for the collecting of contents, editing, and publishing of the directory as well as the solicitation of advertisers for the Directory. Published annually.
- Responsible for keeping a history of the activities of the HRACA, memorabilia such as photographs, and maintaining the archives.

- Responsible for the neighborhood participation in the National Neighborhood Watch program. Keeps participants informed of training, workshops, etc. that may be of interest to them.
