We are looking for folks to participate in the chili cook-off, bring a cake for musical cakes, and register for kickball. Seating will be provided. World Pride is coming to DC — and we’re keeping the celebration going right here in Holmes Run Acres!
Join us for our now-annual HRA Pride Party — a tradition that began in 2018 and has grown into a vibrant mini block party. This year, we’re spreading the love to a new spot: Laurel Court. Saturday, June 14th | 3 PM RSVP now! 🫧 Bubbles, dancing, color, and community joy 🎶 DJ Cale 🌮 Taco truck 🍦 Ice cream truck Update: Due to mechanical issues, the taco truck is no longer able to come, but there will be an ice cream truck, jello-shots, and cold water to help beat the heat and curb any hunger pains. Bring a chair, drink of choice, maybe a poncho, and your dancing shoes for an afternoon of music, fun, and community. All are welcome — families, friends, allies, and neighbors. Dig for treasures at participating homes throughout the neighborhood!  The Holmes Run Acres Civic Association is hosting its annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 5th, from 4:00-8:00 pm (or later) at the circle green on Sycamore Circle. (Note: this is a change from previous years) We'll be serving up a variety of bratwurst, sauerkraut, beer, and festive music. Seating will be provided. If you'd like to contribute, feel free to bring a German-themed side or dessert—completely optional! RSVP here. While this is an HRACA-sponsored event, a donation jar will be available if you'd like to contribute to helping cover this event and others throughout the year. Lastly, don’t forget to bring your HRA Membership Forms—there will be a table for drop-off.  Looking for more October fun? Join us on Sunday, October 27th for the HRA Halloween Parade & Day in the Park! The parade kicks off at 11:00 AM, followed by a day full of activities. We’re excited to bring back HRA Day in the Park, featuring a chili cook-off, games (including a classic cake walk), and a live band showcasing young, up-and-coming HRA musicians. The HRACA Social Committee is excited to announce our scheduled events for 2024. Many events like Day in The Park, Oktoberfest, and International Dinner are long-standing neighborhood traditions, while others, like the Pride Block Party, have quickly become annual traditions in our HRA community! We have even added new events like a Community Kickball Game this year! More details will be available as each date approaches. We hope you will join the festivities!   Put on your costume and join us for the annual HRA Halloween Parade in Luria Park on Saturday, October 28th at 10am.
If you are not joining the parade, you are required by law to cheer us on alongside the streets of Executive and Surrey. So get out the house and watch the HRA kids of all ages proudly display their Halloween costumes. Bonus points for giving out candy and/or succumbing to the spirit and joining us!
